Aliza Lelah

Aliza Lelah grew up just outside of Chicago.  She attended the University of Vermont where she majored in Studio Art, spending a period of time in Florence, Italy.  It was there that she began exploring the use of fabric in her work.  She went on to receive an MFA in Painting from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2007, and now maintains a studio in Denver, Colorado.  She shows her work regionally, nationally, and internationally - and is featured on the site http://ketuv.com/.

Using photos only as a reference, I re-create the images out of tiny bits of fabric. The material is recycled- made from old clothing, blankets etc.  The pieces are hand and machine sewn; throughout the process each figure takes on a bit of its own life.  They are not meant to be exactly the photograph, instead a recreation developed out of layers of memories and tactile material. Prices vary based on size, amount of figures, details etc.  Please check out my website to see more imagery- www.alizalelah.com

As an example, a piece that contains one figure, about 24" x 18" would be $600.  On this site I am available for commissioned works.  Meaning YOU provide a photograph, and I recreate that image out of fabric (some of yours if you wish to include it, if not from my collection).
Contact Aliza for more information and to commission a piece: alizalelah@gmail.com or 847.530.9404.
