Lecha Dodi by Tikva Adler
This vibrant, colorful painting depicts the moment during a Friday's sunset in which the magical feeling of Shabbat enters our hearts. The Sabbath Bride is mysterious, loving, and warm. She enters smiling and robed in shimmering fabrics. The beginning of the prayer "Lecha Dodi" is written in gold all around her: "Come let us go to meet the bride-- Let us greet the Sabbath!"  Gold paint is used throughout the piece, which gives it a mystical glow that changes depending on the lighting of the room. The painting looks totally different at different parts of the day, giving it a magical quality. 16" x 20"

Made with acrylic paints on canvas board

Hadlakat HaNerot by Marlene Burns
Hadlakat HaNerot, blessing over Shabbat candles, expresses the juxtaposition of the work week and the holy day of the Sabbath.  The three orbs represent the three commandments, specific to women, with the glowing feminine aspect of G-d, the shechina overhead.

Havdallah by Marlene Burns
The symbols of Havdallah are more overtly shown in this expression of the prayers that mark the end of Shabbat .  The tri-wicked candle, the Kiddush cup and the spices flow around and through the image of double circles, representing the two souls we are given on the Holy day.

This image has been beautifully reproduced on archival-quality, acid-free somerset velvet paper with a 1" border for framing.  It is hand signed and titled by the artist and is numbered (limited edition.) Giclees on gloss canvas, stretched (1.5" depth with gallery wrap and mirrored image) and unstretched (with a 2.5" border) are available and are hand signed and enhanced with paint by the artist. All reproductions come in a variety of sizes not listed here. This design is also available as a card on this site. Please contact www.kavanahpress.com for price lists and special orders.
