This ketubah is designed in the format of a talmud page, with the text of the ketubah in the center, and the different commentary sections filled out with Hebrew and Yiddish texts chosen by the couple: Yedid Nefesh, the 8th chapter of Song of Songs, texts from the tractates Bava Metzia, Kidushin, and Ketubot, Genesis 24:37-47, the Seven Blessings around the outside of the text block, in "note" form, and a Yiddish poem by Mani Leib, "A Floym," in the lower right corner in cursive Hebrew script. The couple's initials and the Hebrew word "Chai" ("life") form three corners. The various hands complement one another, and create a texture purely based on lettering.
Your ketubah will be special to you, and I am happy to work with you on all details. My ketubahs are not prints: they are live calligraphy on an ink-wash-painted or white background, entirely done by hand. Text area is about 15"x 20", but can vary with your texts.
